There are three roles that can be assigned to people who wish to provide content to this website.
Briefly these are..
- Contributor – can write own basic posts
- Author – can write own basic posts including files and images
- Editor – can write, edit or modify any pages, posts or comments
Any member may be given “Contributor” rights.
A Contributor who has had some practice with the system and wants to insert files and images into their posts may ask for “Author” rights.
Eventually, the committee is advised to chose two trusted Authors to become Editors with “Editor” rights and webmaster status.
The following full definitions are taken from the WordPress website…
A contributor can edit their posts but cannot publish them. When a contributor creates a post, it will need to be submitted* to an administrator for review. Once a contributor’s post is approved and published it may no longer be edited by the contributor.
A contributor does not have the ability to upload files/images.
* In practice, the webmaster will get an auto-generated email notifying him/her that a post is waiting to be reviewed – there is no need to submit a post for review.
An author can edit, publish and delete their own posts, as well as upload files/images.
An editor can publish, edit, and delete any posts/pages, moderate comments, manage categories, manage tags, manage links and upload files/images.
